Wake up to Brussels Breakfast Seminar

EY’s ‘Wake up to Brussels’ breakfast seminar took place on Wednesday 17 May, where we welcomed Dr. David Doyle, EY’s senior EU policy advisor in Brussels as guest speaker.  David is a former long-serving Irish diplomat based in mainland Europe on both multilateral and bilateral assignments.

Until Article 50 was triggered, the EU Commission and other EU Institutions could supply limited comment on their reaction to Brexit.  That restraint is now removed and David provided clear insight from the Commission as to their attitudes, priorities and objectives for the financial services industry in the EU.

For anyone who needs or wants to be fully informed about this process as it formally commences, this was an essential event providing early insight from Brussels and Frankfurt now that Article 50 has been triggered.

David covered a range of interesting topics around the European and Brussels stance on Brexit, particularly Ireland’s role in a changed European Union and the potential and real implications of Brexit.

If you have any queries in relation to Brexit and the European Commission please don’t hesitate to get in touch with Cormac Kelly or your usual EY contact.
