John Hannigan is Head of the Aviation Tax Practice in Ireland and has over 15 years’ experience in financial services. He joined EY in 2010 from another Big 4 firm to lead the Aircraft Leasing Tax Practice in Ireland and is the Irish leasing representative on the EY global leasing tax network.

John has provided transaction support and advisory services to aircraft lessors around the globe as well as advising on several platform migrations to Ireland and start-up enterprises. He is trusted advisor to several aircraft lessors and has advised on several significant market transactions in the aviation space in recent years as well as providing capital market support on structuring of equity and debt financing.

One of a small number of very experienced specialists in the aircraft leasing sector, John also contributes to several publications including the IBFD, Reuters and Finance Dublin. John makes regular contributions to Aviation Finance as part of EY’s sponsorship of the publication.

A native of Cork city, John has an undergraduate Business Studies degree and a Master’s in Economics & Finance. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2000.
