I am delighted to be able to share with you the presentation delivered by David Doyle, EU Senior Policy Advisor, Financial Services Regulation, EY at a recent breakfast seminar that took place in London on Friday, 5th June.

David discussed the latest news and developments from Brussels and covered the following topics:

  • Outcome of the European Parliamentary elections and impact on future regulation
  • Remaining legislative items in the EU investment fund space, ie, investment firms regulation, strengthened ESAs
  • Brexit: Still facing a no deal scenario
  • The EU Sustainability disclosure regime and how the ā€œEā€ factor in ESG leaps to prominence in Brussels
  • Integrating ESG, Climate Change risks into the investment and advisory process
  • Amending MiFID II and IDD
  • Prudential rules for investment firms; a tailored regime for smaller firms with stratified capital, liquidity and reporting rules
  • A glance at future regulation priorities under new management at the EC and EP.

Dr. David P. Doyle is a EU Policy adviser/author/lecturer, specialising in EU financial services regulation, covering the banking, insurance and securities’ sectors. A former long-serving Irish diplomat based on mainland Europe in both multilateral and bilateral assignments, he continues to be based in Paris. He is also a long-standing member of the Board of the joint MEP-EU industry advocacy body, The Kangaroo Group, and secretary to its Financial Services Working Group. He also sits on the board of the joint UK cross-parliamentary/SME-owner body, The Genesis Initiative, focused on SME policy development. Dr. Doyle is also actively involved in the Transatlantic Business Council (TABC), and as an EU policy expert in the European Council on Corporate Governance hosted by The Conference Board.
