Cormac Murphy is the partner responsible for leading EY’s International Banking Practice in Ireland, and EY’s pan EMEIA Banking Union team that monitors developments in EU banking since the financial crisis in 2008. Cormac is the Chairperson of Stratford College, a coeducational multi-denominational secondary school founded by the Irish Jewish community. Also, in 2017 Cormac joined the board of Concern Worldwide, a leading Irish NGO focusing on helping the poorest of the poor globally, and is a member of Concern’s Programme Measurement and Evaluation committee that monitors the effectiveness of Concern’s activities.

Prior to joining EY in 2002, he led the Andersen Financial Services Audit and Assurance practice in Dublin.

Since the establishment of the Irish International Financial Services Centre, Cormac has been providing advisory services to a wide range of multinational financial services institutions across banking, leasing and asset administration.

He currently leads a team of senior professionals in EY dedicated to advising domestic and international banks on issues around regulation, cybersecurity and securing business growth in a rapidly changing financial services industry.

From late 2008, Cormac worked on secondment with the Central Bank of Ireland (CBI) in the establishment of a special unit to supervise and monitor credit institutions whose liabilities were guaranteed by the Irish Government. Since then, Cormac has led major projects for CBI around prudential, consumer and enforcement issues, and advises major institutions on matters of a regulatory nature.

Cormac is a qualified member of the UK Association of Corporate Treasurers and holds a postgraduate diploma in Professional Accounting and B. Comm from UCD. Cormac is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.
