EY Financial Services is delighted to take part in the Summer Work Placement Programme 2019 in conjunction with Irish Funds, Dublin North East Inner City and Business in the Community.  The initiative was developed to support the Government’s ‘Creating a Brighter Future’ regeneration plan for the North East Inner City.  David, a student who is working with us for eight weeks as part of the programme, shares his experiences here.

Why did you take part in this internship?

I took part in this amazing summer internship because I wanted to see what the business life is really about and also to gain some vital and valuable work experience for the future, in whatever office job I might undertake.

What was your favourite part of the experience?

My favourite part of the internship experience was learning new things about auditing, financing and a great trip to Bull island for the beach clean-up organised by EY. I made a lot of new friends during the internship programme which I will always cherish.

What did you learn about EY?

I learned that the staff at EY are very diverse, inclusive and friendly. All the staff sit together in the office from interns to senior level staff and this made it easier to talk to each other. The staff are very informed and will always be able to explain anything that you don’t understand fully.

What advice would you give to future interns?

From my experience I can advise future interns to always ask their managers about any work that they might be unsure of, to always try and meet as many people in the company as possible and to not overly worry, everything will be fine.
