“European regulators have been trying to create resolution and recovery frameworks that will enable them to wind down failed banks without using taxpayers’ money. So far, they have not succeeded. But few bankers are quibbling with the progress made.”

As part of a sponsorship with the FT, EY have contributed to a risk and regulatory supplement featured in the Davos edition of the FT Banker magazine. The publication was launched on Thursday 2 January and will be circulated to a global audience of 90,000 and a further ~ 3,500 attendees at the World Economic Forum in Davos, 22-25 January 2014.

The supplement is titled ‘Transforming the Bank’ and places a spotlight on the complexity of regulatory issues facing banks in 2014. One of the featured articles looks specifically at resolution and recovery and includes comments from John Liver (EY’s head of global regulatory reform) and Stefan Walter (leader of EY’s global regulatory network and former secretary-general of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision).
