Cybersecurity regained: preparing to face cyber attacks – Global Information Security Survey 2017-18

We are pleased to share the findings of our Global Information Security Survey 2017-18 (GISS): Cybersecurity regained: Preparing to face cyber attacks with you.

The findings suggest that while organizations continue to prioritize cybersecurity – and are making good progress in identifying and resolving vulnerabilities – they are more worried than ever about the breadth and complexity of the threat landscape.

What we found

Surveying nearly 1,200 participants around the globe from over 20 industry sectors, GISS investigates the most important cybersecurity issues facing organizations today. We found that more than half of organizations surveyed are concerned about the increasing impact of cyber threats on their strategies and plans; 87% of respondents say they need up to 50% more budget; and 77% consider a careless member of staff as the most likely source of attack.

Cyber resilience in a convergent world

The global ransomware attacks in 2017 highlighted that no-one can ignore the rapidly expanding landscape of cybersecurity risks and threats.

In this year’s report, we explore the various types of known attacks: what are they, and who’s behind them? We also provide an actionable framework for each type of attack: what your organization can do to protect yourself. We show how cyber resilience can be regained in a convergent world.

Organizations that confront the cybersecurity challenge will regain a sense of order: it is not possible to repel every threat, but resilient organizations know how to protect themselves, how to detect a problem when it occurs, and how to react quickly and effectively when trouble strikes.

I would be happy to discuss the GISS results with you further and answer any questions or concerns you may have about the cybersecurity issues raised in the report.
